Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport White

The roadster version
of the Veyron 16.4

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is the roadster version of the Veyron 16.4. The name “Grand Sport” recalls two of the most beautiful models in the Bugatti brand’s history: the Type 40 and Type 43 from the late 20s and early 30s, which were the first models to be given the moniker “Grand Sport” by Ettore and Jean Bugatti. These roadsters were the ultimate sports cars of their day.

The Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport combines the pioneering performance specs of the Veyron coupé with the alluring form of a roadster – and takes the experience of open-top driving in a supercar into a new dimension. In addition, the transparent roof allows drivers to directly experience their surroundings, even when the roof is up. Whether you are cruising elegantly or pushing the car to the limits of its power, with speeds of up to 360 km/h with the roof down and 407 km/h with the roof up, you are guaranteed an absolutely thrilling driver experience and a powerful adrenaline rush.

The Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport celebrated its world premiere in summer 2008 in Pebble Beach, California, where the first model was auctioned for over three million US dollars.

The Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is completely sold out.

A roadster with a transparent roof

Bugatti wanted to design a roadster that redefined the technical limits of automotive engineering while also appealing to connoisseurs of aesthetic design and lovers of unique cars.

The designers combined their creative finesse with the technical expertise of the engineers to achieve a perfect balance of luxurious elegance and superlative technical performance.

Consequently, the design of the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport embodies a timeless excellence that makes it a worthy successor to Ettore Bugatti’s Grand Sport models from the late 1920s.

Quilted napa leather

The Grand Sport only uses top-quality napa leather that has been carefully processed so as to retain its natural breathability. Based on historic models, the leather seat covers have been quilted using a method that has been reinterpreted for use in a modern car. The pattern symbolizes an acceleration curve.

The moisture-repellent leather allows the Grand Sport to meet the very highest of expectations for an open-top sports car. The result is a minimalist aesthetic – form and function in perfect harmony.

Bugatti Grand Sport Monocoque

Monocoque

The unique structure of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport made it especially challenging to design the removable roof module for the new version.

The passenger compartment, designed as a monocoque, perfectly combines high rigidity and extremely low weight. It is the central element of the vehicle structure. Removing the roof takes away an integral component of this structure, meaning the load path had to be redefined in order to retain the high rigidity and crash safety, including side impact and rollover protection. Consequently, the monocoque was reinforced along the sills and transmission tunnel.

Bugatti Grand Sport Air Scoops

Air scoops

A characteristic feature of the Grand Sport are the two air scoops on the left and right of the bonnet (which are redesigned for the Vitesse). These air scoops serve two functions in the roadster: firstly, they provide air intake for the engine and secondly, they are an elegantly integrated component of the rollover protection system.

Just like the Super Sport, the Vitesse uses a full-carbon monocoque which enables an extremely high torsional rigidity of 22,000 Nm per degree with maximum passive safety. The exterior is also made completely of carbon fiber.
